For an organization as small as ours, the coordination of large events is a challenging task. Not only does it take the hard work of several dedicated people over several months’ time, but there is always a significant financial commitment as well. Additionally, particularly when economic times are difficult in the community, there is always the worry that attendance will be low.

We are happy to report that the months of planning and preparation paid off! Our Moonlight Meows event on October 28, 2011 was a resounding success, with over 150 people in attendance and over $8,000 in proceeds going directly toward the care of Chico Cat Coalition’s cats.

The night started off beautifully with the smooth sounds of the Holly Taylor and Eric Peter Jazz Duo. As guests began to mingle, considerable attention was paid to the large selection of silent auction and raffle prizes. After many tickets had been purchased and opening bids recorded, we were treated by an excellent buffet from Guzzetti Catering.

There are so many people to thank for the success of this event. The folks at the Masonic Lodge were extremely helpful in providing whatever we needed to set up and provided the perfect venue. So many businesses and individuals donated generously to the raffle and silent auction. Most important, however, were the volunteers that worked so hard before, during, and after the event to make it run so seamlessly. Those volunteers included: Judy Alberico, Linda Clark, Sarah Downs, Armeda Ferrini, Susan and Frank Holtz, Kristina Kaufman, Linda Kline, Robin Machris, Andy Nodzak, and Diane Wittig.

All of us at Chico Cat Coalition would also like to thank everyone who attended the event. Without your support, we could not continue to do the work that we do!

We have volunteer meetings usually each month at the Barn sanctuary. Agenda items typically include introducing new volunteers, adoption/new arrival reports, fundraising plans and of course the well-being of our 'residents'.
