Volunteer

Chico Cat Coalition is run entirely by dedicated volunteers. Every day of the year (this includes nights, weekends, and holidays!) volunteers are needed to care for the cats at the sanctuary.

A typical 'barn shift' can include: providing fresh food and water, doing laundry, sweeping and cleaning floors, and-yes!-scooping litterboxes. This is hard but rewarding work. Depending on the number of active volunteers we have, we attempt to schedule two to three people for a morning shift each day and one person to return each evening. Also depending on the number of volunteers working (or the size of the party the cats threw the night before), a shift may take anywhere from one to three hours. We are flexible in allowing volunteers to do only those activities they can physically handle, so don't be afraid to sign up!

In addition to cleaning and direct cat care, we have many other volunteer activities available including:

• Transporting cats to/from veterinary appointments
• Feline socialization at the sanctuary
• Staffing and coordinating adoption events
• Staffing and coordinating fundraisers
• Working on the newsletter
• General barn maintenance
• Fostering of kittens or cats with medical issues
