should I

adopt a cat?

Choosing to adopt your cat helps control the overpopulation of cats in Chico. Contact us today to see our adoptable cats and meet your new best friend.

Adopting a Cat

Adopting a cat is one of the most rewarding experiences possible. Not only do you save a life and provide a forever home for an animal, you reap companionship and health benefits as well.
  • How do I adopt a cat?

First things first:  come for a visit! We firmly feel it’s important for you and your cat to choose each other. Give us a call, send us an email, or message us on Facebook with your name, email, and phone number and our Adoption Coordinator will be in touch with you to set up a time to come visit the shelter and meet our adoptable cats. You can download our adoption application here!

  • Are there any requirements for adopting a cat from the CCC?

Many of our felines rescued from Bidwell Park are feral, or are too timid to approach people. However, we also have cats of all ages that love people and would be the perfect addition to a loving home!

If you do find a kitty that you are interested in possibly adopting, we have an adoption application to fill out and, if the kitty you are interested in is a good match for you and your home we will deliver the lucky kitty right to your door!

  • Are the cats healthy?

Before a cat or kitten goes to a new home, each will be:

    • Spayed or neutered
    • FIV/leukemia tested
    • Vaccinated for rabies and upper respiratory diseases
    • De-wormed or flea medication applied if necessary
  • How do I ensure I adopt the right cat?

We feel that cats and their humans choose each other. Our trained volunteers will give you as much information as possible about the cat’s behavior and personality and our recommended home situations so that you can make the best decision possible. We highly encourage you to spend time with the cats and get to know them before making your choice.
