Our August 22nd Open Shelter Hours is inspired by all things books, cats, and cozy reading! Join us on Saturday, August 22, from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM for Literary Cats at the Chico Cat Coalition.

Spend an afternoon exploring our shelter while enjoying activities for readers of all ages:

📖 Read to the Kitties – Grab a free book and settle in with one of our cats for a quiet reading session. It’s relaxing for you, enriching for them, and one of the sweetest ways to spend an afternoon.

🗣 Enjoy a short storytime – Gather round at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for some cat-themed stories to enjoy

📚 Choose a Free Book – Thanks to our local Friends of the Library book sale, you’ll be able to take home a book to enjoy after your visit.

📕 Sign up for library card or renew your existing one – the Butte County Library will be hanging out with us for the event and on-site to get you signed up!

🔍 Literary Scavenger Hunt – Search the shelter for clues inspired by books and famous feline characters.

❓ Book & Cat Trivia – Test your knowledge of famous cat-loving authors, literary cats, and classic stories.

Whether you’re a lifelong bookworm, looking for a fun family outing, or simply want an excuse to curl up with a good book and a cat, we’d love to see you.
