Our volunteers are the heart and soul of the Chico Cat Coalition, and we are so grateful for all they do for the kitties! Learn more about volunteering from Alison Mandly, one of our Tuesday evening shift volunteers.

How did you first learn about the CCC?

I first learned about the CCC because my husband, Jason works right next door.

What made you interested in volunteering?

My whole family loves kitties and I’ve always wanted to spend more time helping out the kitty community but it was my daughter, Hazel who at the age of 9 was really pushing to get us involved. We helped out at a pop-up shelter (Fieldhaven transfer station) in Paradise right after the Campfire and the experience stuck with her and she wanted to do more.

How long have you been volunteering with the CCC?

We have been volunteering at the CCC since August of 2021.

What is your favorite part about volunteering?

Hands down our favorite part of volunteering is interacting with the kitties. When we stop doing dishes, scooping litter, etc., and just slow down and play with and snuggle them. We also love giving out their Churu treats!

Any favorite moments so far?

So many favorite moments that we can’t pull any out of our memories!

What advice would you give somebody interested in volunteering?

I would tell anyone interested in volunteering to go for it. It is so much more rewarding than you can even imagine.
